GNIUS was asked by a multi-national world leader in high-tech engineering to help create and deliver a culture change programme.

Having developed a compelling narrative, produced an immersive Leadership event and a global roadshow for front-line people managers, the next stage was to engage everyone in the 17,500 workforce…

Changing a culture means changing people’s behaviour and in a large organisation, spread across different business units, sites and teams, reaching and engaging everyone presents a real challenge.

The Power of ‘5’

GNIUS’ created a unique global experience – The Power of 5; a programme of daily 5-minute tasks, to be performed by everyone in the business on the same day.

Each activity was designed to highlight and explain one of the new values and encourage employees to experiment with new ways of working together.

An awareness building campaign, in 8 languages, grabbed people’s attention and prepared them for what was to come. A video message from the Chief HR Officer  was supported by a countdown clock, online ads and a series of posters featuring senior leaders explaining each of the values.

Town hall sessions ran in all sites introducing the programme and answering questions.

People managers were sent programme guides and invited to online Q+A sessions to discuss their roles.

Engaging everyone in a unique global experience

Every employee was sent a narrative booklet, explaining the new values, the need for change and the behaviours the business was looking to encourage. They also received a special Power of 5 scratch-off activity calendar.

The programme ran for 5 weeks, focusing on a new principle each week.

Employees scratched-off their calendar each day to reveal the day’s activity. Managers provided daily support and guidance as needed.

Each week started with a low-level task (say hello to 5 colleagues you don’t usually speak with) and gradually grew toward something more challenging (sit down with a colleague and give them honest feedback on their performance).

By the end, everyone had been encouraged to seek out new colleagues, to learn more about their business and teammates and to try out the new ways of working that would lead to the culture change the business needed.

The journey isn’t finished but the organisation is off to a flying start! To discuss how GNIUS can create unique and engaging programmes to inspire culture change in your organisation contact Michael on 0330 088 0506
